We are Koubry, a German/Egyptian start-up which aims to facilitate the placement system of technical and vocational trainees, trainers, apprentices and graduates of vocational schools in Egypt. Our idea for this platform came from our observation and research of the current labour market in Egypt. We have realized that there is a persitend gap between education and market demands. Therefore, we designed the Koubry platform to be the missing link: We are the bridge between the stakeholders of the technical and vocational sector. Our platform connects youth, TVET schools and training centers and the market to each other. By facilitating and professionalisation the connection and interaction among the TVET stakeholders, we aim to establish the TVET sector as a viable alternative for youth to build their careers and fill market demands with the right talent and skills.

Why we do this
In Egypt, a mismatch currently exists between education and market demands. While a high number of students complete higher education, the unemployment rate for youth stagnates at around 30%. Hence, a big section of the largest segment of Egypt’s population is neither able to work, nor able to build an independent livelihood for themselves, nor able to contribute to the Egyptian formal economy.

Students can find study pots, internship openings, and job positions, TVET schools and training facilities can find their students and the private sector can address and find the skills and talent they are looking for.

We believe in collaboration and we can learn from one another. We aim to close the feedback loop currently missing between education and the market. By bringing all TVET stakeholders closer together, we aim to make the feedback line more complete and provide opportunities for direct feedback.

The TVET sector is a viable alternative to find and build your career. And it is what the market demands. Currently, there is a lack of qualified technical and vocational employees.
